Casago – Power, Pedigree, and Performance

About

From a young age, Casago demonstrated the brilliance of a future champion. A standout in the ring, he quickly established himself on the international circuit under Piergiorgio Bucci, consistently placing in top young horse classes and Grand Prix events.

As a 6- and 7-year-old, he delivered strong results:

  • 🥉 5th in the 6-year-old GP at the CSIW Mechelen

  • 🥉 5th in the 7-year-old GP at CSI Valkenswaard

  • 🏅 Placings in 1.40m–1.45m classes at CSI3 Gorla Minore*, CSI5 Hamburg*, and others

  • 🏆 Italian National Champion

Later, Casago advanced to the top level of the sport with the following highlights:

  • 🥉 3rd in the Nations Cup at CSIO Vilamoura

  • 🏅 Top placings in international Grands Prix, including:

    • 4th in CSI3 Vilamoura GP*

    • 7th in the CSI5 1.60m GP at Saint-Tropez*

    • 7th in the CSI5 1.45m at London*

    • 4th & 8th in CSI4 1.50m classes at Opglabbeek*

Casago’s sport career was cut short due to a tendon injury, but not before proving himself as a top-tier international performer.

Sire – Casall ASK

Casago is a direct son of Casall ASK, one of the most dominant stallions of his generation. Ridden by Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, Casall had a stellar career that included:

  • 🏆 Overall winner of the 2016 Longines Global Champions Tour (GCT) – victories in Doha, Paris, and Valkenswaard

  • 🥇 Wins in Rome and London GCT Grands Prix (2015)

  • 🥉 Third overall in the GCT rankings (2015)

  • 💰 Over €1.8 million in GCT prize money

  • 🏅 4th individually at both the 2014 World Equestrian Games and 2013 European Championships, where he also claimed team bronze

  • 🔝 22 podium finishes in GCT Grands Prix

Casall’s career was marked by soundness and consistency—he never missed a season over 13 years and ranked 4th in the 2016 WBFSH Sire Rankings.

Dam Line – Larthago

Casago’s dam, Larthago, was a top-level showjumper herself, competing up to 1.50m with Marc Houtzager and Leopold van Asten. She’s an exceptional broodmare, producing multiple international jumpers including:

  • Cevin Z – CSIO4* with William Funnell

  • Hopes Are High Z – CSI4* under Saudi Arabian colors

  • Caroline Z – Competitive on the international circuit

Larthago’s influence is deeply felt in modern sport horse breeding, and she continues to produce talented offspring across generations.

Progeny

Though his career was sport-focused, Casago’s impact in breeding is already taking shape. His first foals were born in 2015, and many are now making their mark internationally:

  • 🏆 Charlie la Loi Z – 5th in the 1.55m GP at CSI3 Compiègne* with F. Amaral

  • 🥉 Kiss Me Fabulesse – 3rd in the 1.45m GP at CSI3 Vilamoura* at just 8 years old with PG Bucci

His son Kosovo de Hus is an approved Selle Français stallion and finished 3rd among three-year-olds in the French stallion qualifiers.
