CORNET OBOLENSKY
Top-ranked on the WBFSH Jumping Sire Rankings for many years, Cornet Obolensky stands as one of the most influential stallions in modern show jumping. Rarely has a sire so completely dominated international breeding and sport at this level. Already, 21 of his oldest offspring have progressed to the highest level of show jumping—an extraordinary testament to his exceptional prepotency and ability to transmit elite athletic talent.
From the moment Cornet Obolensky entered the breeding world, riders and breeders alike have been captivated by this striking gray stallion. At the 2001 Westphalian Stallion Inspection, spectators watched in awe as the product of the exceptional Clinton x Heartbreaker bloodline appeared to dance effortlessly over the fences. His brilliance was confirmed during the 30-day test, where he earned an outstanding 9.24 for jumping ability and a perfect 10 for free jumping.
Paired with Marco Kutscher, admiration for Cornet Obolensky’s talent soared to new heights. The duo qualified for the Bundeschampionat finals with scores most competitors could only dream of. With apparent ease, they mastered the world’s most demanding courses, making elite sport appear almost effortless.
Cornet Obolensky’s first crop of sons immediately produced approved stallions of international caliber, including Cristallo I (1.60m with Henrik von Eckermann), Cornado NRW (1.60m with Marcus Ehning), and Conte Bellini—an outstanding revelation of the 2013 World Cup Finals in Göteborg under Kristaps Neretnieks. Also from this first crop is Daniel Deusser’s exceptional Cornet d’Amour, who claimed the German Championship title in 2013 and finished fourth individually at the European Championships in Herning. This same crop further produced Marco Kutscher’s top mount Cornet’s Cristallo and Emanuele Gaudiano’s European Championship contender Cocoshynsky.
Despite these remarkable achievements, Cornet Obolensky’s breeding career was still in its early stages when these successes emerged. To date, he has produced at least 32 offspring competing at the 1.60m level—and the number continues to rise. Never before has a stallion so consistently proven his ability to pass on elite talent at the very highest level of the sport.
Through his unwavering production of top-level competitors, Cornet Obolensky has secured and maintained his position on the WBFSH Jumper Sire Rankings since 2013, firmly cementing his legacy as one of the greatest sires in show jumping history.
