CENTO
The Capitol I son Cento stands among the greatest show jumping stallions in history — and is the most successful competitor ever produced by Capitol. Partnered with Otto Becker, Cento captured the World Championship for Breeding Stallions in France as a young horse before going on to dominate the global stage. His remarkable career includes victories in the 2002 World Cup Final in Leipzig, the prestigious Aachen and Calgary Grand Prix, team gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and team bronze at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Cento was honorably retired during the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, in front of 50,000 spectators. With career earnings exceeding €1 million, he remains one of the most successful Holsteiner jumpers of all time.
Cento’s dam, Voila XI, descends from the renowned Holsteiner line 2137 (family Schoof) and is by Caletto II, sire of the Olympic gold medalist Classic Touch. The granddam Lady Legende, an advanced-level show jumper, also produced the stallion Ligorett (by Lord). His great-granddam Legende won the Grand Prix of Rome in 1960 at just seven years old — a testament to the family’s enduring athleticism.
Cento’s pedigree shines both in sport and in breeding. His progeny have collectively earned over €600,000, with more than 30 offspring successfully competing at 1.50m level and above. He has sired over 14 approved stallions, including Centus, admired for his outstanding jumping technique and now an elite sire in France. Cento’s offspring are celebrated across Europe for their scope, rideability, and competitive spirit, frequently commanding top prices at elite auctions.
